I was pleased to read in The Times (April 9) that Sen. Paul Simon (D-Ill.), my former congressman, is running for President.
Californians who wish to know him better are urged to examine his books. In addition to traits mentioned in your article, Simon has a deep, resonant, presidential voice, a keen mind, a firm grasp of important issues, and a solid bedrock of integrity that is more attractive because it is the core of his being, not just a cloak tossed loosely over his shoulders for effect.
