A painting by 16th-Century Flemish artist Josse De Momper is missing from Milan’s Brera Museum and is believed to have been stolen, police reported Wednesday. Police speculated that the painting, “Church With Grotto,” may have been stolen before the gallery closed for Easter. In February, thieves stole a painting, “Portrait of a Man,” by Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, from the same museum.
