Orange County College Baseball : Fullerton Powers Its Way to 8-0 Victory Over USC

Greg Mannion, Andy Mota and Mike Ross hit home runs, and three Cal State Fullerton pitchers combined on a four-hitter as the Titans defeated USC, 8-0, Tuesday in a nonconference game at Titan Field.
Fullerton (33-12), ranked fourth in the nation by Baseball America, won its 11th straight game as Mannion and Mota each hit two-run homers off USC starter John Reilly (6-4). Ross hit a bases-empty homer in the eighth. USC is 30-20.
In a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. game:
Cal State Dominguez Hills 3, Chapman 1--Fred Hanker’s second double of the game capped a three-run seventh inning for the Toros (14-5, 30-11) at Hart Park.
Chapman (9-9, 21-22) took a 1-0 lead in the third on Darren Nelson’s RBI single. The RBI was Nelson’s 58th of the year, tying the school season record.
In a nonconference game:
Pepperdine 9, UC Irvine 6--The Waves took advantage of five UC Irvine errors at Irvine.
Pepperdine, ranked third nationally, broke a 5-5 tie in the sixth on right fielder Rick Hirtensteiner’s two-run triple. He was 3 for 5.
Pat Duvar pitched five innings of relief for his first victory of the season.
Pepperdine, setting a school record with its 13th straight victory, is 36-8-3. Irvine is 19-23-1.
