ORANGE COUNTY PREP BASEBALL : Roundup : Bolsa Grande Walks to a 9-8 Win

Bolsa Grande High School scored all its runs in the second inning in a 9-8 victory at Garden Grove in a Garden Grove League baseball game Wednesday.
The Matadors (2-2, 5-3) combined four hits, including Mike Robinson’s two-run double, and six walks to score nine runs in the second. Jerry Maldonado picked up the victory for Bolsa Grande.
John Weber had a three-run double for Garden Grove (1-3, 4-5), which scored six runs on two hits in the fourth inning.
In other Garden Grove League games:
Santiago 10, Rancho Alamitos 6--Catcher Ricardo Gallardo hit two home runs--including a grand slam in the fourth--and drove in seven runs and stole two bases for the Cavaliers (1-3, 3-4). Rancho Alamitos is 1-2-1 in league.
La Quinta 14, Los Amigos 1--The league-leading Aztecs (4-0, 9-1) set a school record with 24 hits, scoring seven runs in each of the first two innings of a blowout at Los Amigos. La Quinta was led by Guillermo Alcantar (5 for 5 with two RBIs), Jerry Arneson (4 for 5 with four runs scored and three RBIs) and Jeff Kronfly (4 for 5 with three runs scored and three RBIs). Mike Wilson (6-0) pitched five innings to earn the victory. Los Amigos is 1-2-1 and 1-8-1.
In the Angelus League:
Servite 4, St. Paul 3--Catcher Brian Criss went 2 for 2 including a game-winning two-run double for the Friars at St. Paul. Craig Barkley (4-0) allowed seven hits and struck out three in five innings for Servite (3-0, 8-1).
Mater Dei 15, Bishop Montgomery 8--First baseman Joe Ciccarella was 1 for 2 with a home run and five RBIs to lead the Monarchs (3-1, 7-3) at Mater Dei.
In the Freeway League:
Fullerton 13, Troy 6--Jeff Bailey went 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs and Collin Milligan had a three-run homer in the sixth to lead the Indians (3-1, 6-3) at Fullerton. Mike Pawlawski went 2 for 4 with a three-run home run in the fourth and Mike Case went 2 for 4 with a home run in the seventh for Troy (3-1, 7-2).
La Habra 18, Buena Park 0--Chris Singleton drove in seven runs with a 4-for-5 day at the plate and Alan Newman (1-1) allowed four hits, striking out 14 over seven innings, as the Highlanders (3-1, 6-4) won at Buena Park. Rob Bills (3 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs) and Bryan Hutcherson (3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI) also led La Habra. Buena Park is 0-4 in league.
Sonora 10, Sunny Hills 5--Graham Staines and David Morris each hit home runs and Andree Garcia was 3 for 4 with three RBIs as Sonora (2-2, 4-6) won at Sunny Hills. The Lancers fall to 1-3 and 6-7.
In the Orange League:
Savanna 9, Magnolia 9 (8 innings)--The Rebels--led by pitcher Ken Tolbert, who went 3 for 3 with a double and five RBIs--had a 9-0 lead going into the fourth inning in a game that was called because of darkness at Magnolia. Tom Woodburn went 2 for 5 with a double, a triple and three RBIs and Marty Neff gave up six hits and struck out 13 in eight innings for Magnolia (1-2-1). Savanna is 2-1-1 and 5-3-1.
Valencia 20, Anaheim 3--Randy Roskelly’s bases-loaded triple keyed a Valencia romp at home. Other leading hitters for the Tigers (3-1, 6-4) were Dennis Burbank (3 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs), Robert Navarrette (4 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs) and John Daugherty (2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs). Anaheim is 0-4 in league.
Western 5, Brea 3--Mario Juarez hit a two-run double and Dan Price hit a two-run home run in the four-run fourth inning to lead the Pioneers (2-2, 7-4) to a victory at Glover Stadium. Three Western pitchers combined for a three-hitter. Brea falls to 3-1 and 4-6.
