Cheesecake With Something Extra

“I’ve had this recipe for years,” Frances M. Hein writes. “I’m sure I can’t say where it originated. My friends and I passed recipes back and forth and this has always been one of my favorites.”
CAKE AND CHEESECAKE
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs, unbeaten
Cake Batter
Topping
Cream cream cheese with sugar until light. Beat in sour cream and vanilla. Blend in eggs, 1 at a time. Set aside. Prepare Cake Batter. Spread Cake Batter on bottom of greased and floured 10-inch springform pan (at least 2 inches deep), spreading thinner on sides. Spoon cream cheese mixture over batter. Bake at 325 degrees 45 to 50 minutes or until done. Spread Topping while hot and garnish with strawberries, if desired. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
Cake Batter
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream butter with sugar until light. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Stir in milk and vanilla.
Topping
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Stir together sour cream, sugar and vanilla.
