Women’s Basketball Roundup : SDSU Women Finish With Win Over San Jose State

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego State women’s basketball team concluded its regular season Saturday by defeating San Jose State, 97-56, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game in the Sports Arena.
Three players--Shelda Arceneaux, Jessica Haynes and Debbie Rinder--scored 13 points for SDSU. Three others--Lisa Stevens, Sheri Edmonds and Brooke Meadows--scored 12.
SDSU shot 49% from the field, San Jose State shot 37%. Arceneaux had a team-high nine rebounds as the Aztecs outrebounded the Spartans, 51-37.
The Aztecs are 9-9 in the PCAA and 12-15 overall. San Jose State is 1-17 and 3-23.
SDSU plays Thursday in the first-round of the PCAA tournament at Cal State Long Beach.
United States International 71, Nevada-Reno 61--Carolyn Davis scored 16 points to pace USIU in a West Coast Athletic Conference game. Amanda Spry and Sonya Carter added 15 points each for USIU (7-4, 14-10), which trailed at halftime, 36-32. Gwen Meux had 14 points to lead Nevada-Reno (4-8, 9-17).
