Floodlights will be installed to span San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge to help mark the bridge’s 50th birthday this year, authorities reported. The original architectural plans called for lights to be placed in the bridge’s towers, but they were never installed. A committee has been formed to install lights, and its chairman, John Molinaris, said the effect will be tasteful. “We don’t want it looking like Disneyland,”.
