A woman claiming to be an undercover police officer offering tips to avoid robbery ended up bilking a fast-food restaurant out of $17, authorities reported. Police in Rohnert Park were seeking a woman who walked into a Jack-in-the- box restaurant without a gun or badge and said she was a policewoman. She assembled the staff and lectured them on how to tighten security. In the course of it, a police spokesman said, she recalled that she and a fellow officer had been in the restaurant recently and had had to respond to an emergency call before they got proper change for their order. An employee quickly dipped into the cash register to pay her. The woman then tried the same scheme at other restaurants but was unsuccessful, police said.
