Ex-UCLA Librarian Chief Vosper Feted

Robert Vosper, former head librarian at UCLA and professor emeritus in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, has received the American Library Assn.’s 1985 Joseph Lippincott Award for distinguished service to the profession of librarianship. The award was presented at the association’s 104th annual conference in Chicago.
At UCLA since 1961, Vosper is credited with establishing one of the nation’s outstanding research collections. He is also a past president of the American Library Assn.
Also receiving an association award was Robert M. Hayes, dean of UCLA’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Dean since 1974, Hayes received the 1985 Beta Phi Mu Award for distinguished service to education for librarianship.
