Area Women’s Basketball : Titans Overcome Slow Start, Rally to Beat Stanford, 68-57

Laura Satorius scored a career-high 16 points to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 68-57 nonconference victory over Stanford Saturday night in Titan Gym.
The Titans (4-9) got off to a slow start, trailing, 13-4, with 11:30 left in the first half, but rallied to take a 28-25 halftime lead. Fullerton came out in the second half and three times had leads of as much as 12 points.
Fullerton also got a strong effort from Wendy Anae who scored 13 points. Amy Porczon came off the bench to score 10 points and get a team-high 9 rebounds.
The Cardinal (9-5) was led by Virginia Sourlis’ 14 points. Jill Yanke had 12 rebounds.
The victory was the third straight for Fullerton which will play USC Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Titan Gym.
In other womens’ college basketabll games:
Cal State Northridge 59, Chapman 54--Center Tara Flanagan had 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Matadors (1-0, 11-2) to this California Collegiate Athletic Assn. victory at home. Leone Patterson led Chapman (1-1, 10-5) with 16 points and Tami Brewster added 13.
