Bernheimer awarded one of his annual Beckmessers to John Clifford for the “artistic as well as fiscal poverty” of his now defunct Los Angeles Ballet Company.
Bernheimer titled this particular award, “Reluctant we-told-you-so award.” That is in error. It should have been called the “Enthusiastically kick-’em-when-they’re-down award.”
