Strong Performance, a 20-1 shot, rallied from ninth place to win the $239,600 Tropical Park Derby at Calder Park in Miami.
The race is the first major prep for the Kentucky Derby.
Strong Performance won by three-quarters of a length over Dr. Dan Eyes. Real Forest, a 3-1 second pick, was third, 1 1/2 lengths back. Master Cho was fourth and 5-2 favorite Scat Dancer was fifth among the field of 3-year-olds.
Strong Performance, a gray colt, was clocked in 1:54 2/5 on a track rated fast. He returned $43, $21.80 and $10.60.
