Gov. Wallace Is Hospitalized for Infection

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Gov. George C. Wallace entered University Hospitals in Montgomery on Saturday night for treatment of a urinary-tract infection, his press secretary and hospital officials said.
Wallace, 66, had been suffering flu-like symptoms since Thursday and had a fever, press aide Billy Joe Camp said. A hospital spokesman said that Wallace’s life was not in danger.
The four-term governor was driven from Birmingham to Montgomery with his two personal physicians. In the hospital, he will be treated intravenously with antibiotics, Camp said.
