The Hollywood Reporter trumpeted its syndicated TV series (named for itself) on its own front page but, insisted editor Marcia Borie, “We’re not doing anything self-serving--it’s news that we’re on TV now.” If so, then where were the ratings for the five pilot episodes (that ran locally on KTLA)?
Borie called the ratings “fabulous all over the country” but said they went unpublished in the Reporter because of holidays and deadlines. National figures were not available at press time, but L.A. ratings were only “O.K., not boffo,” said a KTLA spokesman. Producer Earl Greenburg said ratings were strong in some markets but are “irrelevant” this time of year at any rate.
As for the show’s future, Borie added, “It’s in the lap of the gods.”
