Boys’ basketball: Birmingham hands Taft rare West Valley League defeat

Woodland Hills Taft hadn’t lost on the basketball court in a West Valley League game since 2005 until Wednesday afternoon, when Birmingham handed the Toreadors an 80-69 defeat.
Iseah Rodgers and Antone Datcher scored 20 points apiece. Kris Yanku had 30 points for the Toreadors.
El Camino Real is in first place after a 73-32 win over Chatsworth. Cris Fancis scored 15 points. Maleke Haynes had 11 points and eight assists.
In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw defeated Locke, 83-72.
In the Western League, Westchester defeated Hamilton, 76-35. Palisades defeated University, 73-65. Aaron Johnson scored 15 points. Breamon Richard led University with 23 points.
