Harbor City Narbonne is 4-0 with victories over Long Beach Poly and Gardena Serra. Next up is a showdown game against unbeaten Santa Ana Mater Dei on Friday night at 7 o’clock at Narbonne.
The Gauchos have the complete attention of Mater Dei Coach Bruce Rollinson.
‘It’s one of the best teams I’ve seen on tape in a lot of years,’ Rollinson said. ‘You see athletes, and Coach [Manuel] Douglas is really a good football coach. They’re discipline, they run, they hit. There’s not a lot of showboating.’
The key to a Mater Dei victory will be trying to control the clock and pick up first downs against Narbonne’s highly regarded defense.
But Narbonne’s speed and ability to run and pass could be decisive.
