Baseball: Showdown time for Gardena Serra-L.A. Cathedral

It’s showdown time in the Camino Real League, with Gardena Serra (15-2, 9-0), ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division 5, taking on No. 6 L.A. Cathedral (15-5, 8-1) in a two-game series this week.

First up is Tuesday’s 6 p.m. game at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton, followed by Friday’s game at Serra.

Serra won the first meeting, 10-0, but Cathedral Coach Scott Pearson has his young team better ready to take on the Cavaliers.

Serra, though, is expected to use ace Dominic Smith on the mound on Tuesday.
