Football: Santa Margarita leads Orange Lutheran, 7-0

Santa Margarita (5-1, 0-1) didn’t have much trouble finding the end zone on its first posession.

Ryan Wolpin scored from one yard out to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead with 9:54 remaining in the first quarter at Saddleback College.

The touchdown was set up by a 41-yard run by Wolpin and a 17-yard run by quarterback Johnny Stanton that pushed the ball to the Orange Lutheran 3-yard line.

This game could have huge playoff implications. Both teams lost their Trinity League openers and another loss could jeopardize one of these team’s chances of making the postseason.
