A sophomore junior varsity football player from Los Angeles High, Dennis Pena, was in critical but stable condition on Friday after suffering an apparent head injury during a game against Belmont on Thursday, according to City Section administrator John Aguirre.
Aguirre said the player collapsed near his bench. He was transported to a local hospital and later underwent surgery for hemorrhaging in his brain.
On Monday, Los Angeles Athletic Director David Craft said the prognosis for Pena ‘is supposed to be good.’
