In another sign about the unpredictable Trinity League, Mater Dei stunned Santa Margarita, 21-14, on Thursday night. Santa Margarita came in unbeaten and ranked No. 2 by The Times.
Mater Dei had five sacks, the last of which, by Thomas Duarte, ended the game.
Mater Dei had come in 2-3 in nonleague games, but the Monarchs finally were able to win a game in the fourth quarter.
