After winning consecutive Pac-5 Division championships, Anaheim Servite’s success has helped convince some talented young players to join the program based on the performances of the 5-0 freshman team.
‘The freshman team is probably as talented as we’ve had,’ Coach Troy Thomas said.
Harvey Etiaki, younger brother of varsity standout Charlie Etiaki, is a linebacker-running back to watch.
Then there’s defensive end Jack Savage, son of UCLA baseball Coach John Savage.
‘He’s a beast,’ Thomas said. ‘The name fits him.’
Servite could face a strong test when it takes on Santa Ana Mater Dei in the Trinity League. Mater Dei is 5-0 at the freshman level, led by 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver-safety Ben Humphries.
