With only six players on its roster, none of whom stand taller than 5 feet 10, East Valley isn’t quite ready to take on Westchester and Taft in the City Section, but the third-year varsity program is 7-3 overall and in second place in the Valley League behind Sherman Oaks CES.
East Valley Coach Matt Skeadas is proud of the way his players hustle, compete and play as a group. Eddy Escobar is averaging 21 points, with Manny Torres at 15 points. Each is enrolled in AP classes and has a 3.7 grade-point average.
The team won two games on the road last week, and there isn’t any coach who wouldn’t be happy with a road victory. A playoff spot is possible.
