Chatsworth, ranked No. 14 by The TImes, is playing No. 22 Bishop Amat in a nonleague game tonight at USC’s Dedeaux Field, and the Chancellors have just scored a stunning nine runs in the third inning to take a 9-0 lead.
The first 11 batters reached base in the third, eight on hits. Paul Paez, who was 11-0 last season for Bishop Amat, gave up eight of the runs, though the Lancers also made three errors in the inning.
Big hits for Chatsworth included a run-scoring double by Andy Weissberg and a two-run single by Andrew Klausmeier.
Even more important for Chatsworth is that senior left-hander Mike Renner is pitching well. He struck out the side in the second inning and has given up one hit.
