Taft’s baseball team just got a lot better after the City Section athletics office gave immediate athletic eligibility today to senior Seth Spivack, a catcher-pitcher who transferred from Calabasas.

Spivack, who signed last fall with California, hasn’t played since his sophomore year but he was good enough in summer ball for the Bears to offer him a scholarship.

The City Section had to be assured that there was no recent prior contact involving first-year Taft Coach Scott Osder, who used to coach at West Hills PONY baseball, where Spivack played youth ball.

Spivack should make his debut for Taft this week and his addition helps the Toreadors’ playoff chances.
