Cardinals and Rangers World Series: Superstitions abound

Following the Cardinals’ 10-9 victory against the Rangers in Game 6 of the World Series on Thursday, the Web is abuzz with superstitions that may have aided or jinxed the teams.
A blessing
Jeff Passan of Yahoo! writes that as David Freese hit his 11th-inning leadoff home run, various players and team personnel were silently sitting in their ‘lucky’ seats in the room that houses their video equipment.
Mike Aldrete, the team’s co-hitting coach; Chad Blair, the video coordinator; Matt Holliday, Lance Berkman and video assistants Ben Bultmann and Isaiah Honick were glued to their respective spots and sat unflinchingly still as Freese swung.
When the ball flew out of the park, Passan writes, ‘All they remember is running. A dead sprint out through the door, up the hall, down the stairs and onto the field, where the lucky-seat adhesive had dissolved and everyone in a white uniform was pouring onto the field to await Freese at home plate and celebrate.’
A curse
Some bloggers have written that Warren Sapp may have inadvertently sabotaged the Rangers with a tweet.
Before the game had ended, Sapp tweeted: ‘Congratulations Ron Washington & The Texas Rangers World Champions! #WelcomeToTheClub.’
A short while later he tweeted: ‘Did I Tweet Too Fast?? #Oops.’
One bitter Rangers fan maligned Sapp with this comment: ‘Thanks Sapp, if I didn’t already hate you.’
