One of the best infields in Major League Baseball got a little better today with the Boston Red Sox signing former Seattle Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre.
Beltre, who played for the Dodgers from 1998 to 2004, signed a one-year deal worth a guaranteed $10 million. The two-time Gold Glove winner is expected to start at third base.
A shoulder injury limited Beltre to 111 games and eight home runs last season. The Red Sox are hoping he can stay healthy and revert back into a consistent power hitter. Beltre hit at least 25 home runs in the three years before last season.
