State gasoline, diesel consumption falls

Gasoline consumption in California was down by 1.4% in 2009, and higher prices are probably a reason for drop.
The average per-gallon price in 2009 was $3.01 -- 50 cents higher than the average price in 2008.
The figures were released by the state Board of Equalization, a state tax-collection agency that monitors the taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel.
Diesel consumption in November 2009 was down more than 3% compared with figures from November 2008.
