A motorist was killed Monday when a vehicle careened off Angeles Crest Highway and tumbled several hundred feet down a steep ravine, authorities said.
Los Angeles County firefighters were called to the 32.2-mile mark of the highway about 1:45 p.m. after someone saw a vehicle leave the roadway.
Nearly two dozen firefighters responded about 2 p.m. and, after finding the driver, continued to search in case of other possible victims.
The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not immediately identified. Authorities said they are investigating the cause of the accident.
