Pedestrian killed by freight train in Oceanside

An unidentified man was struck and killed Friday night by a northbound freight train at a crossing in Oceanside, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
The man was struck at the Mission Avenue crossing near downtown about 10 p.m. and declared dead at the scene. The county medical examiner will determine the man’s identity, authorities said.
