Man shot, wounded by police during manhunt

A police officer shot and wounded a suspect Friday evening in Montebello, authorities said.
A Monterey Park police officer, who was assisting the Montebello Police Department in a manhunt, shot and wounded an adult male suspect, said Deputy Peter Gomez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting took place about 5:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Garfield Avenue, according to Gomez.
The man was taken to a hospital, Gomez said. His condition was unknown.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were assisting Montebello police in the shooting investigation.
