A woman and girl were killed Friday when a car veered across three lanes of a Riverside street and hit the bus bench where they were sitting, police said.
Two other people on the bench were injured in the 1 p.m. crash at Magnolia Boulevard and Tyler Street, a busy intersection near the Galleria Mall, said Officer Bryan Galbreath, spokesman for the Riverside Police Department.
The car knocked over a power pole before plowing into the bus stop bench, hitting the four.
The four-door Kia sedan came to a rest about 20 feet away, near store sign.
Galbreath said the man and woman injured in the crash were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver was being questioned by police, but there was no indication he was under the influence, Galbreath said.
