Dzanc’s novel contest for mid-career writers

Everybody loves the hot new thing. But what happens after you’ve published two novels, earned a few gray hairs touring and have the squinty gaze of the writer who’s been staring at screens too long?
You could enter the Dzanc Books Novel Competition. Authors who’ve published two books -- short story collections, novels and/or nonfiction -- are eligible. The Michigan-based independent publisher explains:
While at times it seems the publishing industry is only interested in the next big thing, we at Dzanc recognize the value of experienced writers who have gone through the process of creating and publishing two or more books. Mid-career writers are the backbone of our industry yet often these writers are overlooked and have a harder time finding a publisher than first time writers. In response, we at Dzanc have created this prize to honor those writers who have stayed the course and learned a thing or three over the years.
The contest requires a $20 entrance fee and, of course, a full-length manuscript of your upcoming novel. The deadline is Feb. 1, 2012. The winning author will receive a $1,000 advance and publication in 2013, both ebook and print, and promotional support for the book.
